3 blokes, 3 bikes and 3 countries made for one hell of a charity ride! We managed to crack this journey in 17hrs & 10mins & I still don't know how. Although I was on a comfortable BMW R1200RS, it was definitely a hard slog once you got out of Devon & onto the M5/6.
Once you reach Carlisle, you know you're half way there & about to be blown away by some of the most enjoyable roads in the UK. The M74 introduces you to the start of some stunning mountain lined terrain that flank the next 300 or so miles of roads.
Once you get onto the A9 you'll appreciate the progressive pace you can make on what are twisty and scenic roads - right up to Inverness. From here the A9 will take all the way up the coast to Thurso. I managed to crack my cornering up the coast line as it all finally fell into place. Make sure you take plenty of fluids and energy bars. Our ride has a number of fuel stops and this also helps with exercising the leg muscles, which can cramp up if you're not careful.
There's plenty of B&B's and a great pub when you get there. Enjoy.

What a nice run out for the day. Managed to see mountain, forests, seaside & castles all in the day. The route we made up found some brilliant roads & linked up castles on the route - only because we needed a reason. We grabbed a builder breakfast at Gavin & Stacey's, which set us up for the day; it's near Touratech HQ - also if you need adventure supplies!
Highlights included Laugharne castle, Pendine beach (ice cream of course) & motor museum, Manorbier castle, Carew castle & my favourite, the stunning St David's Cathedral.
